Penerapan Ice Breaking untuk Meningkatkan Motivasi Belajar Bahasa Indonesia Siswa Kelas IX di MTs Negeri 02 Cirebon

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using the ice breaking technique in increasing the motivation and performance of class IX students in learning Indonesian at Mts Negeri 02 Cirebon. The data collection methods used include observation and documentation. Observations were carried out actively by researchers to monitor the learning process and the use of icebreakers by teachers. Documentation techniques such as questionnaires, tests, field notes, and observation sheets are used to monitor student learning motivation and the implementation of ice breaking. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively and quantitatively. Research subjects included class IX D students and teachers who implemented ice breaking. The research results showed a significant increase in student learning motivation after implementing ice breaking. In the first cycle, only 10 out of 25 students achieved a high motivation score, while in the second cycle, 90% of students achieved a very high motivation score. The average student motivation score also increased to 84 in the second cycle. Ice breaking has had a positive impact by increasing students' enthusiasm and concentration, as well as increasing their learning achievement.
